Dave Pop! is back for his 3rd open house exhibition. Twice nominated for the 'Latest homes best open house award', Dave is hoping for a bumper number of visitors after his starring role in the TV series, Choccywoccydoodah. The series follows Dave and his fellow chocolatiers creating bizarre and beautiful chocolate sculptures and cakes, and was the highest rated show for the Good Food channel ever, Getting over 65,000 viewers a show!
Dave Pop! Is a Brighton based artist, taking inspiration from the city’s diverse culture; fairground art, burlesque strippers, gay porn, saucy seaside postcards, as well as Renaissance and Pop Art, to create mischievous, cheeky and gorgeous pictures.
There will be a theatrical set, best described as 'Jackie collins in the Sistine Chapel' where you can have a photo taken for an instant Pop! Portrait, a must for anyone who fancies him or herself as a work of art!
The inspiration for this year's exhibition,'Pleasure Island' comes from the Pinocchio story, a place all the bad boys go to indulge themselves in every vice imaginable, and the idea of the Palace Pier, with it's flashing and spinning lights, slot machines and Karaoke bars, being a real life version. The boys in the original story eventually turn into jackasses, as a moral lesson to the audience, but in this contemporary take on the theme, maybe this Lampwick doesn't mind being part donkey....
Dave Pop!'s open house exhibition is at 27 New Steine, BN2 1Pd and is no 3 on the Kemptown trail.
Dave is Captain Creative at Choccywoccydoodah, making some of their most outrageous and iconic chocolate sculptures, graphics and artworks.
Dave has also worked with Jeremy Hoye to create a stunning range of jewelry.
Dave lives with a husband, Jem, a cat, Rocket and a dog, Trevor.
